We’ve all heard the 10,000 hour rule in order to “master” as skill … however, the financial committment to support these hours for Olympians was a bit shocking!!!! Swimming is a very popular Olympic sport, and as an example, swimmers comprised just under 10% of the US Olympic delegation in 2012. Based on an article in the fiscal times, the average training cost for each of these swimmers is roughly $100,000 a year!?!?!? … and swimming isn’t even the most expensive sport?!?!?! …
Kudos to all the Olympians and their supportive parents!
